Photography, Cinematography and Editing
Specializing in photojournalism Nigel Kühn is frequently on the frontline of anti poaching operations armed only with his camera, notebook and pen. His military and security background allows him to get into and out of situations normally not accessible to photojournalists.
His operations thus far have included anti poaching in Matusadona National Park, on Lake Kariba and in Victoria Falls recording events as they unfold either through video or imagery.
Photographing and being part of the team running the Bear Grylls Survival Academy in Victoria Falls also provides a fresh perspective on conservation and adds a new dimension to his photographic and cinematographic abilities.
Powerful editing software and hardware allows Nigel to work quickly and effectively on footage provided by other men and women on the front line of anti poaching and security issues.
Data Collection and research
As a photojournalist an image is far more powerful when it is being used in conjunction with others to weave together fragments of a story showing a much bigger picture or allowing one to see the clue which leads on to the next idea...
The decline in wildlife, the conservation degradation, lawlessness are all stories which need to be documented. With imagery a dossier can be compiled. Not merely evidence, but also will enable the responsible authorities a chance to build a map or Global Image System.
A volunteer programme set up on the shores of the Matusadona enables the fixing or anti poaching access roads, pays for reahabilitation of infrastructure on the lakeshore which is integral to wildlife protection in the area.
